SUPPORT US TO FIGHT CLIMATE CHANGE IN OKERE

In Okere, dry spells are now more incessant and longer. As a result, farmers only realize 25% of their farm produce. But through agroecology, we are on a mission to avert to avert this predicament. Please, support us as we work to support smallholder farmers to become more resilient and be able to adapt to the devastations of climate through agroecology alternatives.

HOME OF OKERE SHEA BUTTER

"Because shea trees grow naturally in Okere, we are deliberate in our efforts to regenerate and conserve shea trees by promoting its re-forestation and sensitizing our community not to cut the trees. We are also investing in shea butter by creating cosmetic product lines to launch in the marketplace - with the first one being Okere Shea Butter. In essence, we strive to position SHEA BUTTER as the "vibranium" that spurs socio-economic transformation in our village. Among other things, we have started Okere Shea Cooperative Society to be the bedrock upon which our Shea investments are rested.

"I have fallen head over heels in love with Okere Shea Butter. I cannot look further from it. It is by far the best moisturizer I have ever used. Additionally, the story behind the women who collect the nuts is inspiring. To think that when I buy a tin of Okere Shea Butter, at least some money finds its way to these women and the community is amazing"

About

OKERE CITY

Okere City is a community where rural development, future aspirations, and cultural connections are consciously uplifted... a place to take a deliberate pause to think about a reimagined and thriving African countryside. We believe that by creating such a space, we can improve rural livelihoods and conditions and inspire a radical rural transformation beyond the borders of our village. We are more than a rural development project. We are both an experiment and an experience of reimagining traditional traditional rural development in Africa. More to our work and partnership with the people people of Okere, we are also a destination for artists, researchers, activists, writers, thinkers, and dreamers who believe in the potential of the African countryside.
