Okere City has officially reached its target of 150 farmers under the Shea Carbon Insetting Initiative, following the successful recruitment of the Olarokwon Farmers’ Group to join the already existing cohort. With 62 members attending the induction session on 25 November 2025, the initiative now stands fully enrolled—strengthening community-led climate action, restoring shea landscapes, and empowering farmers to benefit from regenerative agriculture and carbon credit opportunities.

In Okere, the shea tree is powering a new community-led carbon credit journey. Farmers are learning that the trees they protect and nurture can store carbon - and create real income. With clear mapping, training, and transparent monitoring, Okere is turning shea conservation into both climate action and opportunity.

This year, 34 candidates at Okere Community School sat for their Primary Leaving Examinations - the largest class in the school’s history. From future doctors and journalists to teachers and leaders, each pupil carries a dream shaped by years of hard work, community support and hope for a better tomorrow.
